I love Idea Parties.
And I've never tried one on a blog, but that's what I'm planning to do now.
What is an Idea Party?
When you have a wish, but you can't see how you'll ever make it come true, you figure out your obstacles, and then you go to an Idea Party. You say to the group, "This is my wish. This is my obstacle." And that's when amazing things start to happen.
In my TEDx talk, I tell some astonishing, funny, true success stories that happened in Idea Parties and they show you how it works. If you haven't seen it yet, head over to youtube and take a look here: TEDx Prague: Isolation is the dream killer
Where does an Idea Party happen?
In the olden days, they happened in your living room. Some people still swear by that kind. Success Team leaders throw an in-person Idea Party in the seventh week of each eight-week training they run or otherI threw a lot of them and although I've never been a renowned party thrower, I was told more than once that these were the best parties the attendees had ever been to. They gave me their phone numbers so I could let them know when the next Idea Party was scheduled.
How do you get those instructions?
If you go to my main website, www.barbarasher.com , you'll be able to get your free instructions for how to run your own Idea Party in someone's home. When you sign up for that you will also receive further instructions every few weeks for how to run other kinds of Idea Parties.
Other kinds?
Well, the rules stay the same: You state our wish and your obatacle and everyone comes up with ideas for you. But I've led some fantastic Idea Parties on Twitter, Facebook, on the telephone and Skype video, in auditoriums with huge audiences, on my forums (at boards.barbarasher.com), and simply by accosting unfortunate strangers on planes who ask me 'So what is it you do?' I say, "I make people's dreams come true without any self-improvement." and if they tell me their wish, they are launched before we land.) Coaches I've trained run week-long Idea Parties in English and Idea Parties in German on Facebook a number of times a year.
And you can either join or reproduce every single one of the forms that Idea Parties can take.
We really make dreams come true. And it's free. And it's fun. And you'll meet the most interesting people in your town that way, which is one way to make your life a lot more connected and enjoyable.
But I've never tried running an Idea Party on a blog before.
I suppose I could post one person's wish and obstacle each week, and the discussion, suggestions, ideas, contacts, could all take place nexxt week. That's worth a try. (I have a hunch a conversation will start down in the comments without me posting anything, but let's watch to see how that works out.
I'm making this blog private this week only
because, as of tomorrow, an English Language Idea Party hosted by Barbara Sher Coaches will begin. It will last for a week. In case you somehow see this blog before that time (I'm waffling on making it private) head over there and sign up as soon as it's Monday in your time zone
That's it I think.
